What is a Moderator?
A Moderator (often called a Mod) is a user just like you that volunteers his/her time to make this site clean from spam, flaming, and make sure the users stay within line. Think of them as police(FUCKTHEPOLICE)/judges/jurors/janitors(mostly janitors).

How do I become a Moderator?
If you make helpful posts in Moderation, Tech Help, reporting posts that break the rules, etc., the Mods will notice you. If you're kind, helpful, and level-headed, you may have what it takes to be a mod (That said, while we look for helpful people, beack-seat modding and spamming the Mods with reports are among the quickest ways to get yourself taken out of consideration). When new mods are needed, you may be asked to become a Mod.

Just a note: Don't ask to be a mod or admin, that will only hurt your chances. "Let your actions speal louder than you words."

Who are the mods?

Global Mod, Senior Mod... what does all of this mean?

Let's break down the ranks for a second:

Admin: The most powerful position on the forums. The admins control every aspect of the forums, including features, permissions, ban control, etc.

Senior Forum Moderators: An experienced Forum Moderator.

Chat Moderators: Chat Moderators watch over the chatbox and make sure no rules are broken inside of it. Chat Mods have the power to ban users from the chat. Other than that, they're normal users like you.

Global Moderators: Global Mods are experienced Senior Forum Moderators who moderate the entire forum rather than certain forums like a Forum Mod does. These mods have the ability to move threads from one forum to another, lcok topics, merge and split topics, and ban rule-breakers.

Forum Moderators: These moderators maintain the rules of the RGC forums. Forum Mods have the same abilities as Global Mods except these mods only moderator a certain forum. For instance, Forum Mod A could be a moderator for the Gaming Discussion forum while Forum Mod B is a moderator for the Gaming Tutorials forum. All new moderators begin as forum moderators.

Retired Admins and Mods: Admins and Mods who have released their position respectively on the forums. Most either continue on the forums as a normal member or leave entirely.

This is meant to be read after the forum becomes sufficiently active enough to have applications for mods...

DISCLAIMER: In the future(after we get enough users and mods on the forums), this does not mean we are looking for new moderators and/or admins or anyone who applies has an actual chance at being asked to be a moderator.

I figured we'd often get hit with the question "How do I become a moderator?" and "<insert username here> would makes a great mod!"

So I decided to inform you all how to apply to become a mod. The rules are simple:
* Don't ask. Asking is a good way to get yourself taken out of consideration.
* You must have at least 35 posts on the forums(Again, this is meant to be read in the future). Post-whoring and spam does not count.
* At least semi-clean warning record. This does not mean that if you have a warning level of [1] that you'll never become a mod. It just means that we look for users who don't get into trouble every day.
* Send an email to rgcmodapps@yahoo.com that contains all of the information listed below.
* Serious applications only please!

In your email, be sure to include the following information: (Note that fields amrk with a * are required if you want us to look at your application!)

  • *Your username
  • *Your email address
  • Secondary email address(if first one cannot be reached)
  • *Reasons why youu think you would make a good moderator.
  • *Reasons why you think you may not make a good moderator.
  • ****List of links to threads/posts by you that you think supports you reasons****
  • Any other assorted information that you feel should be mentioned regarding you.

Thank you, and good luck!
